A papal envoy is a representative of the Pope, sent to represent the Pope's interests in foreign countries. The two most common titles for a papal envoy are LEGATE and NUNCIO. A LEGATE is a diplomatic representative of the Pope, usually sent to a foreign country to represent the Pope's interests. A NUNCIO is a diplomatic representative of the Pope, usually sent to a foreign country to represent the Pope's interests, but with the additional authority to act as an ambassador.
