The Palestinian Party, also known as FATAH (an acronym for 'Harakat al-Tahrir al-Falastini'), is a secular nationalist political party in the Palestinian territories. Founded in 1959 by Yasser Arafat, it has since become the largest and most influential Palestinian political party. FATAH is committed to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and the right of return for Palestinian refugees. It has been involved in several armed conflicts with Israel, including the Six-Day War and the First Intifada.
