Aaron Sorkin is an American screenwriter, director, producer, and playwright. He is best known for his work in television, including the political drama The West Wing (1999–2006), the legal drama Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (2006–2007), and the social satire The Newsroom (2012–2014). He has won numerous awards, including an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Social Network (2010) and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series for The West Wing. He is also the recipient of the 2020 Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award.
