An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of EYE diseases and conditions. As such, an ophthalmologist's concern includes the RETINA, STYE, eyes, EYEBALL, EYE, MYOPIA, EYESIGHT, uvea, and eyecare. The RETINA is the light-sensitive layer of tissue at the back of the EYE that receives and transmits visual information to the brain. A STYE is an infection of the eyelid caused by bacteria.
