The EMU is the only bird with calf muscles, and is native to Australia. It is the second-largest living bird by height, after its ratite relative, the ostrich. The EMU is a flightless bird, and is well-adapted to running, having long thin legs and three large toes on each foot. It is also able to swim, although not as well as other birds.
