Emil Zatopek was an Olympic runner from Czechoslovakia who won four gold medals at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. He is best known for winning the 5, 000m, 10, 000m and marathon events in the same Olympics, a feat that has never been repeated. He also set 18 world records during his career, including the 10, 000m record which stood for over 12 years. Zatopek was nicknamed the 'Czech Locomotive' due to his powerful running style. He was inducted into the International Association of Athletics Federations Hall of Fame in 2012.
