OLD MONTEREY BAY FORT is a historic fort located in Monterey, California. It was built in 1791 by the Spanish Empire and was used to protect the harbor of Monterey Bay. The fort was later taken over by the United States in 1846 and was used as a military base until it was decommissioned in 1866. The fort is now a National Historic Landmark and is open to the public for tours. The acronym ORD stands for Old Monterey Bay Fort.
