The official language of Kenya is SWAHILI, a Bantu language with roots in several African languages. It is spoken by over 50 million people in East Africa and is the most widely spoken language in the region. SWAHILI is also an official language in Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Mozambique, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is used as a lingua franca in many parts of Africa and is one of the six official languages of the African Union.
