Anne of Cleves was the fourth wife of King Henry VIII of England. She was born in 1515 in Dusseldorf, Germany and was the daughter of John III, Duke of Cleves. ANNE was known for her beauty and intelligence, and she was a popular figure in the court of Henry VIII. She was married to the king in 1540, but the marriage was annulled six months later due to Henry's dissatisfaction with her. Despite the annulment, ANNE remained on good terms with the king and was given a generous settlement. She lived out the rest of her life in England, where she was well-respected and beloved by the people.
