Ellen Glasgow was an American novelist from Richmond, Virginia. She wrote about the changing world of the post-Civil War South and was the first woman to receive the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1942 for her novel 'In This Our Life'. Glasgow was also a member of the Southern Literary Renaissance, a group of writers who sought to redefine the literature of the South. Her other works include 'The Battle-Ground', 'The Miller of Old Church', and 'Vein of Iron'.
