The term Norwegian Inlet is composed of two words, FJORD and FIORD. A FJORD is a long, narrow inlet with steep sides or cliffs, created by glacial erosion. It is a common feature of the coastline of Norway, Iceland, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands. A FIORD is a similar type of inlet, but it is formed by the submergence of a glaciated valley. Both Fjords and Fiords are found along the coastlines of Norway, Iceland, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands.
