The North Pole Explorer term is composed of two names, Byrd (4 letters) and Peary (5 letters). Admiral Richard E. Byrd was an American explorer who led the first flight over the North Pole in 1926. He was also the first to fly over the South Pole in 1929. Robert Edwin Peary was an American explorer who claimed to be the first person to reach the North Pole in 1909. He was also the first to lead an expedition to Greenland in 1886.
