An op-ed (or 'opinion editorial') is an essay written by a newspaper columnist or other guest writer that expresses their opinion on a particular topic. It is usually published in the opinion section of a newspaper, and is often used to discuss current events or political issues. Op-eds are distinct from regular news articles in that they are not intended to be objective or balanced, but instead to express a single point of view.
