New York City is made up of five boroughs: the BRONX, Brooklyn, Queens, MANHATTAN, and Staten Island. The BRONX is the northernmost borough and is the only one located on the mainland. It has an area of 42 square miles and a population of 1.4 million people. Brooklyn is the most populous borough with 2.6 million people and an area of 70 square miles. Queens is the largest borough by area at 109 square miles and has a population of 2.3 million people. MANHATTAN is the smallest borough by area at 22 square miles and is home to 1.6 million people. Staten Island is the least populous borough with a population of 476, 000 people and an area of 58 square miles.
