The term 'New Jersey Five' refers to the professional basketball team, the Brooklyn NETS. The NETS are based in Brooklyn, New York, but were originally founded in 1967 as the New Jersey Americans and played their home games in Teaneck, New Jersey. In 1977, the team moved to Long Island and changed their name to the New York NETS. In 2012, the team moved back to Brooklyn and changed their name to the Brooklyn NETS.
