Nero's successor was Galba, a Roman Emperor who reigned from 68 to 69 AD. He was the first emperor of the Year of the Four Emperors, a period of civil war and instability in the Roman Empire. Galba was known for his austerity and frugality, and he was unpopular with the Roman people due to his refusal to grant them the traditional donatives. He was eventually assassinated by Otho, one of his own supporters.
