Navigation hindrance is a term used to describe any environmental conditions that can impede the navigation of a vessel. Two common examples of this are HAZE and FOG. HAZE is a dry, dusty or sandy atmospheric suspension that reduces visibility, while FOG is a cloud of tiny water droplets suspended in the air near the ground, which also reduces visibility. Both HAZE and FOG can be dangerous for vessels, as they can make it difficult to see other vessels, landmarks, and buoys.
