NASA's Lunar Program, also known as the APOLLO Program, was a human spaceflight program that was conducted by the United States from 1961 to 1972. The program was designed to land the first humans on the Moon and bring them safely back to Earth. The APOLLO Program achieved its goal of landing the first humans on the Moon with the APOLLO 11 mission in 1969. The APOLLO Program also included several other missions that explored the lunar surface and returned samples of lunar material to Earth.
