Napoleon's home from 1814-15 was the island of Elba, located off the coast of Italy in the Mediterranean Sea. It was here that Napoleon was exiled by the Allies after his defeat at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Elba was chosen as a place of exile because it was far enough away from France to prevent Napoleon from attempting to regain power, yet close enough for him to be able to return if he wished.
