Pegasus is a mythical winged horse from Greek mythology. He was the offspring of Poseidon, the god of the sea, and Medusa, a monster with snakes for hair. Pegasus was said to have been born from the blood of Medusa when she was killed by Perseus. He was tamed by the hero Bellerophon and used to help him in his battles against the Chimera. Pegasus was later taken to Mount Olympus by Zeus, where he became the thunderbolt-bearing steed of the gods.
