Erle Stanley Gardner was an American mystery writer, best known for his series of novels featuring the defense attorney Perry Mason. He wrote more than 80 novels and short stories, as well as a series of non-fiction books. He was one of the most successful and prolific authors of the 20th century, with his works selling over 300 million copies worldwide. He was also a lawyer and served in the U.S. Army during World War I.
