A Muslim place of worship is known as a MOSQUE. Mosques are places of worship for followers of the Islamic faith, and have been around since the 7th century. They are typically characterized by a large open space for prayer, a minaret from which the call to prayer is made, and a mihrab which indicates the direction of Mecca. Mosques are also used for religious instruction, community gatherings, and other activities.
