Muslim ascetics are individuals who practice a lifestyle of extreme self-discipline and austerity. They are often associated with the Islamic faith, and two of the most common types of Muslim ascetics are Fakirs and Sufis. Fakirs are ascetics who focus on poverty and renunciation of material possessions, while Sufis are ascetics who focus on spiritual enlightenment and the pursuit of knowledge. Both Fakirs and Sufis strive to live a life of simplicity and devotion to God.
