Mr. Saarinen was a Finnish-American architect and industrial designer, best known for his unique modernist designs. He was born Eero Saarinen in 1910 in Finland and moved to the United States in 1923. He studied architecture at Yale University and went on to design some of the most iconic buildings of the 20th century, including the St. Louis Gateway Arch and the TWA Flight Center at JFK Airport. He also designed furniture, textiles, and other products. He died in 1961 at the age of 51.
