Mr. Mandela is a reference to NELSON Mandela, the South African anti-apartheid revolutionary and politician who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the first black South African to hold the office, and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election. Mandela was also the leader of the African National Congress party from 1991 to 1997. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 for his work in ending apartheid and promoting racial reconciliation.
