Mountain predators are large cats that inhabit mountainous regions. The two most common species of mountain predators are the COUGAR (PUMA concolor) and the PUMA (PUMA yagouaroundi). Cougars, also known as mountain lions, are the largest of the two species and can reach up to 8 feet in length and weigh up to 200 pounds. Pumas, on the other hand, are smaller and typically weigh between 40 and 70 pounds. Both species are solitary animals and hunt a variety of prey, including deer, elk, and small mammals.
