Mother Teresa was a Roman Catholic NUN and missionary who dedicated her life to helping the poor. She was born in 1910 in what is now Macedonia and joined the Sisters of Loreto at the age of 18. She was given the name Sister Teresa after St. Therese of Lisieux, and she took her final vows in 1937. Mother Teresa was one of the most famous and influential nuns of the 20th century, and she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her humanitarian work.
