Johnny Mercer was an American lyricist, composer, singer, and actor who wrote the lyrics for the popular song 'Moon River'. He was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1909 and was one of the most successful songwriters of the 20th century. He wrote over 1, 500 songs, including 'Autumn Leaves', 'One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)', and 'That Old Black Magic'. He won four Academy Awards for Best Original Song and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1971.
