The GILA Monster is a large lizard native to the Southwestern United States and Northwestern Mexico. It is the only venomous lizard in the United States, and is one of two species of venomous lizards in North America. The GILA Monster can grow up to two feet in length and is known for its bright orange and black patterned skin. It is a protected species and is listed as near threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
