Missouri's Ozark Mountains are a range of mountains located in the U.S. states of Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. The Ozarks cover a significant portion of northern Arkansas and most of the southern half of Missouri, extending from Interstate 40 in Arkansas to Interstate 70 in central Missouri. The Ozark Mountains are an ancient mountain range that have been eroded over time, creating a rugged landscape with steep hills, deep valleys, and numerous caves. The highest peak in the Ozarks is Taum Sauk Mountain in Missouri, which has an elevation of 1, 772 feet. The Ozarks are home to a variety of wildlife, including black bears, white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and bald eagles.
