Mino of 'Tonka' is Sal Mineo, an American actor, singer, and director. He was best known for his Academy Award-nominated role as John 'Plato' Crawford in the 1955 film Rebel Without a Cause. He also appeared in films such as Exodus, The Gene Krupa Story, and Escape from the Planet of the Apes. He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his performance in Exodus. Mineo was tragically murdered in 1976 at the age of 37.
