MINE PASSAGEWAYS are underground tunnels and openings that are used to access and transport materials from a mine. The two most common types of mine passageways are ADITS (5 letters) and SHAFTS (6 letters). Adits are horizontal tunnels that are dug into the side of a mountain or hill, while shafts are vertical tunnels that are dug straight down into the ground. Both adits and shafts provide access to the minerals and resources within a mine.
