Middle March is a novel by George Eliot, first published in 1871. It is the third book in her series of novels known as The Cornhill Magazine. The novel follows the story of the March family, who live in the fictional town of Middlemarch, England. The term 'IDES' refers to the 15th day of the month in the Roman calendar, which is the day that the novel's protagonist, Dorothea Brooke, marries her husband, Edward Casaubon.
