Michelangelo was a renowned Italian Renaissance artist, sculptor, and architect. His most famous work is the Pieta, a marble sculpture of the Virgin Mary holding the body of Jesus Christ. He also created the iconic statue of David, which stands in the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence. Michelangelo's artwork also includes several frescoes, or wall paintings, such as the Sistine Chapel ceiling and the Last Judgment mural. Additionally, he was a master of Arte, a style of painting that combines elements of both painting and sculpture.
