The Mets' old home was Shea Stadium, a multi-purpose stadium located in the Flushing Meadows–Corona Park area of Queens, New York City. It was the home ballpark of Major League Baseball's New York Mets from 1964 to 2008. The stadium was named in honor of William A. Shea, the man who brought National League baseball back to New York. It was demolished in 2009 and replaced by Citi Field.
