Members of Congress are elected representatives of the people in the United States. They are divided into two groups: Representatives (REPS) and Senators (SENS). Representatives serve in the House of Representatives and are elected to two-year terms by the people of their state or district. Senators serve in the Senate and are elected to six-year terms by the people of their state. Together, they make up the legislative branch of the United States government and are responsible for making laws.
