Meir's successor was Yitzhak Rabin, a five-letter name. Rabin was an Israeli politician and general who served as the fifth Prime Minister of Israel from 1974 to 1977 and again from 1992 until his assassination in 1995. He was a member of the Labor Party and was the first native-born prime minister of Israel, having previously served as Minister of Defense. Rabin was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994 for his role in negotiating the Oslo Accords with the Palestinians.
