Roddy McDowall was an English-American actor who had a long and successful career in film, television, and theatre. He is best known for his roles in the Planet of the Apes franchise, as well as films such as The Poseidon Adventure, Cleopatra, and The Greatest Story Ever Told. He also appeared in numerous television shows, including The Twilight Zone, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. McDowall was nominated for four Emmy Awards and won a Golden Globe Award for his performance in the television movie Scruples.
