The Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler (1707-1783) is considered one of the most influential mathematicians of all time. He made major contributions to the fields of calculus, graph theory, number theory, and mechanics. He is also known for his work on the foundations of mathematics, including the development of the modern notation for mathematical analysis. He is credited with introducing much of the modern mathematical terminology and notation, particularly for mathematical analysis, such as the notion of a mathematical function.
