Mario's video game brother is Luigi, a character who first appeared in the 1983 arcade game Mario Bros. He is a green-clad plumber who is Mario's younger twin brother and is often seen as Mario's sidekick. Luigi has since appeared in many of the Mario series of video games and spin-offs, often playing the role of the second player. He is also a playable character in the Super Smash Bros. series.
