Marie Curie's daughter was Irene, a French physicist and chemist who was born in 1897. She was the daughter of two Nobel Prize winners, Marie and Pierre Curie, and she followed in their footsteps by winning the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1935. She is best known for her work on the synthesis of new radioactive elements and for her discovery of artificial radioactivity. She also worked on the development of the atomic bomb during World War II.
