Marathoner Alberto Salazar is a legendary long-distance runner who won the New York City Marathon three times in the 1980s. He set the world record for the marathon in 1981 with a time of 2:08:13, which stood for nearly two decades. Salazar also won the Boston Marathon in 1982 and 1983. He was inducted into the National Distance Running Hall of Fame in 1998.
