Many a university donor is an ALUM, which is a shortened form of the word alumnus. An alumnus is a former student or graduate of a school, college, or university. Donors are individuals who give money to universities to support their educational and research activities. These donations can come in the form of scholarships, endowments, or other forms of financial support. Many alumni choose to donate to their alma mater in order to give back to the institution that provided them with an education.
