Many a Bach composition is characterized by the use of three musical forms: the Toccata (7 letters), Fugue (5 letters), and CHORALE (7 letters). The Toccata is a fast-paced, improvisatory piece that often features virtuosic passages. The Fugue is a contrapuntal form in which two or more voices enter in succession with the same melody. The CHORALE is a hymn-like form that is typically harmonized in four parts. All three forms are found in many of Bach's compositions, including his famous Brandenburg Concertos.
