Manual transmission, also known as a STICK shift or STICK, is a type of transmission used in motor vehicles. It uses a driver-operated clutch, usually engaged and disengaged by a foot pedal or hand lever, for regulating torque transfer from the engine to the transmission; and a gear selector operated by hand. The gears are typically arranged in a 'H' pattern. Manual transmissions are generally more fuel efficient than their automatic counterparts, but require more skill and experience to operate.
