Gavin MacLeod is an American actor best known for his roles as Murray Slaughter on the Mary Tyler Moore Show and Captain Stubing on The Love Boat. He was born in Mount Kisco, New York in 1931 and began his career in television in the 1950s. He is also known for his roles in films such as The Sand Pebbles, The Party, and The Flim-Flam Man. MacLeod was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his performance in the 1976 film The Shootist.
