Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are two of the main characters in William Shakespeare's tragedy, Macbeth. Macbeth is a brave Scottish general who is driven by ambition and a prophecy to murder King Duncan and take the throne of Scotland for himself. Lady Macbeth is Macbeth's wife, who encourages him to commit the murder and become king. Together, they are responsible for the death of many people, including Banquo, Macduff's family, and ultimately, Macbeth himself.
