Moms Mabley was an American stand-up comedian and actress who was active in the early to mid-20th century. She was one of the first African-American female comedians to gain widespread recognition and was known for her frank and often risque humor. Mabley was also a civil rights activist and used her comedy to address issues of racism and sexism. She was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 1993.
