Otto Harbach was a lyricist who wrote for Broadway musicals and Hollywood films in the early 20th century. He was born in New York City in 1873 and studied music at Columbia University. He wrote the lyrics for over 200 musicals, including the popular 'Smoke Gets in Your Eyes' and 'Indian Love Call'. He also wrote the lyrics for several films, including The Wizard of Oz and Show Boat. Harbach won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1936 for 'The Continental'. He died in 1945.
