Fred Ebb was an American lyricist who wrote the lyrics for many popular musicals, including Cabaret, Chicago, and Kiss of the Spider Woman. He was born in New York City in 1928 and died in 2004. He won Tony Awards for his work on Cabaret and Kiss of the Spider Woman, and he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1985. He collaborated with composer John Kander on many of his works, and their partnership lasted over 40 years.
